NATIONAL TRUST – Black Glen Access Pass

ALL YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED AS TO HOW THE BLACK GLEN ACCESS PASS WORKS

1. What is an Access Pass?

The Black Glen Access Pass is a pedestrian pass that will allow you and up to 3 accompanying children free access through the Black Glen.

2. What National Trust properties does the Pass apply to?

Only Downhill Demesne. Not valid on event days.
Only access through the Black Glen and not the wider estate.

3. Only Permanent Resident can apply for a Pass, what is a Permanent Resident?

Someone who lives here for at least 6 months of the year or more.

4. Why are only Permanent Residents eligible to apply?

Only permanent residents can apply as the Pass is part of a long- term relationship that we are hoping to build with those living closest to us for the majority of the year.

5. Why are only Permanent Residents who live within 3 miles of Bishop’s Gate eligible to apply for a Pass?

As stated above the pass is part of a long- term relationship that we are hoping to build with those permanent residents living closest to us for the majority of the year, unfortunately as a charity we cannot afford to extend free entry to everyone.
However, NT membership does represent excellent value for money and gives you access to over 500 special places. This is something others may want to consider.

6. How do I apply for a Pass?

We have a number of dedicated sessions to give out Passes these are as follows:

Come to our drop-in session at Hezlett House between 3pm – 7pm on 6th March.
Bring with you Proof of Person eg, Passport, Driver’s License
Proof of Address eg, Rates Bill

If you can’t make this date call into the office at Hezlett House on

Thurs 12th March – 10am-12noon or 2pm-4pm
Wednesday 25th March – 10am-12noon or 2pm-4pm

7. Do I need any documents to support my application for a Pass?

You will need to bring with you Proof of Person eg, Passport, Driver’s License
And Proof of Address eg, Rates Bill

8. What does it cost to apply for a Pass?

There is no cost to apply for a Pass.

9. Where do I send my completed Pass Application Form?

There is no application form – passes will be issued on site providing proof of person and address is shown on the day.

10. How long will the Pass be eligible for?

The pass will be eligible from 1st March – 30th Sept 2020
They will need to be renewed every year.

11. Can I use the Pass to attend Special Events, (e.g. Kite Festival), in the Downhill Demesne?

No – The Pass will not be eligible on Event days.

Chocolate Manor

The Chocolate Manor

The Chocolate Manor is a luxury artisan chocolate producer and we are delighted to be moving from our current base in Coleraine to new premises on 3 Main Street Castlerock. This will be our only location when we move. We handcraft a range of personalised chocolate creations and the demand for our products has grown rapidly in the last year, and we are moving to allow us to increase our production, and to increase our chocolate experiences. We are currently working on preparing the property for us to handcraft our products there and hope to be moved in very soon. We will definitely let you know when have a date. We will then be focused on creating a space for visitors to enjoy our range of chocolate experiences, including hands on chocolate making workshops for all occasions, and chocolate tasting events where we explore incredible chocolates from around the world. Initially we will be open by appointment only for customers who wish to make or collect orders – and for scheduled events.
We are very excited to be joining the community in Castlerock and we are hosting an event on Saturday 25th January in the Peter Thompson Hall for anyone who wants to come along and find out more about the Chocolate Manor and what we do. Info on the event is here.
This move is a dream come true for us as it will be a bigger space for handcrafting our products and our very own workshop and experience space. We’re looking forward to getting to know members of the business and local community.
