CCA Polytunnel Project
CASTLEROCK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION – APPLICATION FOR POLYTUNNEL PLOT
The Castlerock Community Association is a registered charity who operate a Polytunnel as part of their Village Beautiful programme. The Polytunnel which was recovered in Nov 24 at a cost of £3,200, (funded from the Associations Village Draw monies), is located on National Trust land at the back of Hezlett House, Sea Road, Castlerock.
The Polytunnel comprises 12 plots, (including 2 raised beds), which were refurbished in 2020. Two of the 12 plots are allocated to the National Trust although currently they permit the Association to utilise them on an annual basis – (NB this arrangement may change). The Association provide a supply of gardening tools plus a table and chairs. Car parking is available adjacent to the Polytunnel and there is a compost heap and water supply.
Access to the Association’s Polytunnel is during National Trust opening hours via the Sea Road gate. There is key safe by the Sea Road gate which Association plots holders have access gain entry out of hours.
The Association charges a nominal rental fee for a plot, (currently £25), and requires all plot holders to agree to and sign a Licence Agreement. Plots are renewed on an annual basis at year end. Commercial growing is not permitted. The plot holders have a What’s App group.
As of February 2025 all plots are taken but any new applications will be added to a waiting list for the next available plot.
